Our Secret Weapon
Surtees boats provide the best of both world’s - a smooth non-pounding hull along with incredible stability at rest.
The super smooth ride is the result of a very fine entry design, viable to 18 degrees at the stern
The stability of Surtees boats has a lot to do with each boat having a self-flooding ballast tank that runs along the keel line. As the boat settles off plane the tank floods and steadies the hull considerably giving maximum stability at rest (more comfort for the crew). The ballast drains instantaneously as the hull rises back on the plane. A shut off gate can be used to retain the water for extra stability when under way in heavy conditions. Also at the beach, when the chamber is closed and empty of water, launching and retrieving the boat is significantly easier.
Along with the revolutionay ballast tank system all Surtees Boats are constructed from the highest marine grade alloy - 5083 and 5052. The Surtees 6.1, 6.7 and 7.3 models are constructed with 5mm bottoms, 4mm sides and 3mm cabins while the smaller 4.7 and 5.5 models have 4mm bottoms and 3mm sides and cabins.
